FAQ

We understand that you might have some questions about our experiences. We have gathered a list of frequently asked questions just for you. If there’s anything else you have questions about, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help and can’t wait to see you on an adventure or retreat soon.

WHAT EXPERIENCE OR PHYSICAL FITNESS IS REQUIRED?

Although experience is not a limiting factor, physical fitness may be. Most of our adventures are planned with all abilities in mind, but some are very physically demanding and require endurance training. Our outdoor activities will be designated by one of three physical fitness levels.

“Easy” refers to a low level of physical exertion, suitable for most people with minimal fitness, able to move over uneven terrain.

“Intermediate” which is suitable for those in good physical condition. Everyone on these trips should be able to hike for about 4 hours at a moderate pace with breaks and have good balance. Plan to work up a sweat.

“Challenging” represents a high level of exertion where breathing becomes labored and talking is challenging. Being in good physical condition is necessary as well as a strong desire for adventure and the courage to withstand challenging weather.

If you are concerned about personal physical limitations, please contact our staff to discuss the details of the event together; we may be able to reassure you, to make modifications, or offer a different Thrive adventure to better suit your needs.

Most all of our activities need no prior experience necessary and we will help you along the way to learn the skills necessary for the adventure.

WHAT AGE GROUP DO YOU WORK WITH?

Our experiences are geared towards your growth in Christ no matter your age. We work with all age groups. However, some of our trips are more appropriate for certain ages due to the outdoor activities offered. For example, white water rafting is for adults and youth 12 years old and up. If that is the case, we will specify age ranges on the adventure or retreat summary.

WHAT SHOULD WE BRING

All technical gear for Thrive is provided.

A basic packing list is sent to all participants for each adventure after they have registered. The packing list will cover clothing, essentials and a list of optional gear. For most events you can expect to bring a Bible and a water bottle.

WHAT DO YOUR ADVENTURES COST?

All of our trips are funded through donations. To donate to Thrive New Mexico, click our donate button, and find Thrive New Mexico in the fund drop down menu.

I have dietary RESTRICTIONS. Do you provide accommodating Meals?

We try our best! When booking your experience a space is provided for you to communicate your dietary needs.

what is your cancellation Policy?

Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to a retreat or adventure results in a full refund. If you cancel between 29 days and 2 weeks prior you can apply those funds to attend another retreat or adventure of equal or lesser value. Cancellations  made less than 2 weeks offer no refund – we would’ve already purchased supplies and needed equipment for your specific adventure. Deposits made are non-refundable if you can’t make the adventure/retreat.

what is your inclement weather policy?

Most of our activities, with the exception of rock climbing, happen rain or shine. If we have to cancel due to weather conditions we will offer a different date. If unable to find a date that works a full refund will be given.

Do you offer high adventure experiences?

Yes, we love adventure at Thrive. Our adventures and retreats are experiential in nature with a purposeful reason for why we do them. We offer a spectrum of adventure levels.

The purposeful high adventure activities that we might engage in include rock climbing, whitewater rafting, rappelling, canyoneering, and more.
